Effect of probiotics on pepsin activity of egg white
I take three different probiotics a day due to a small intestine problem. A small intestine is where digestion and absorption of food occurs. I enjoy eating eggs, but my doctor told me not to because my small intestine cannot handle full digestion of protein. Since it is impossible to avoid egg in diet, it led to a question if the probiotics promotes the digestion of proteins such eggs.
Proteins consist of chains of amino acids (Science Museum). These chains of amino acids are held together by peptide bonds, which are chemical bonds formed between two molecules when the carboxyl group of one molecule reacts with the amino group of the other molecule, releasing a molecule of water (Peptide Bond).
