Investigating the effect on length of arrow track on the shooting distance of the crossbow

Introduction
Since I was in the 6th grade, I used to build machineries such as a rubber band gun or catapult out of Lego and fire it to a target placed. As my building techniques have accumulated over time, I am able to reach the level of building crossbow which fires actual Lego brick propelled by the
power of rubber band.

While constructing another crossbow, I had an intuitive thought. Dragging the bullet as far as possible from where the rubber band is originally hanging by making the arrow track long might result in an increase of the shooting distance and the speed of the bullet. However, making such changes did not make noticeable changes in velocity of the bullet nor the shooting distance of the crossbow. This intrigued me to investigate whether increasing the length of arrow track will have an effect in increasing the shooting distance.

Background information
We can model the shape of a crossbow as the diagram given below, where stands for Arrow track in short and stands for the length of a limb of the crossbow, as seen in Figure 2 below.
