Prescribed Title: Is replicability necessary in the production of knowledge? Discuss with reference to two areas of knowledge.

Introduction

Production of knowledge refers to the outcome of an observation, action or experiment by an individual or collaborative interaction. This can bring light to many forms of knowledge, from new theories and understandings to confirmation of an existing fact. Replication has provided an essential method in possible ways to attain knowledge, and their impact on knowledge production is enormous.

The legitimacy of theoretical results that cannot be duplicated is frequently questioned in many forms of study. This includes various areas of knowledge (AoK), where identifying the replicability of research findings or artwork has proven critical for generation of knowledge. Moreover, knowledge inquiry itself is not always a faultless process, as prejudice and the absence of absolute truth cannot undermine knowledge replicability. This raises the question of whether replicability is required for knowledge to be produced in different AoK. Therefore, in this essay, I will discuss the role of replicability and its necessity in knowledge acquisition of two distinct AoK: natural sciences and arts. Within the context of two AoK, replicability refers to the capacity to run trials of a scientific experiment or creation of an artwork repetitively to produce knowledge. Besides, the degree of necessity for replicability within the two AoK will be analyzed to draw a conclusion for the selected prescribed title…
