Research Question

How is the volume of potassium manganate(VII) solution dependent on the mass of iron in each iron tablet during redox titration?

Introduction

As a woman, who periodically experience an inevitable menstrual cycle, I have had the iron tablet for a long time. My mother has always told me that it is necessary to supplement the lost iron in the body. In order to be a wise consumer, I have often followed my mother going to a pharmacy to buy a new bundle of iron tablets. My goal was to choose a product with the highest efficiency regarding both the components and the price. I noticed that the prices of the supplements are severely dispersed. Although the mass of iron labeled on the packaging does not have a significant difference, the price labeled right below the mass did not correspond to the composition. Then, I started to wonder why some price is so distinctive from the others which are fairly low in costs. Is there a suitable reason for such high prices? Normally, the price of products needs to be determined by the mass of iron. Therefore, I decided to conduct an experiment myself to find out the answer to such an intriguing fact. By designing and conducting a redox titration with potassium manganate(VII), I would be able to work out the experimental mass of iron in a few iron tablets. I would literally use the products from local pharmacies to find out if there is any correlation between the price and the composition of the tablet. This would eventually find out the most cost-efficient supplement among a few models, making it easier to make a decision during the shopping next time.
