Research Question: “Should PT Hyosung Jakarta develop low-end Spandex offerings as a product development strategy to increase profitability in the Indonesian textile market?”
Rationale: PT Hyosung Jakarta is the Indonesian textile market leader with an approximate 50% market share through the sale of high-end Spandex products; however, the introduction of cheaper Chinese Spandex imports and by its’ competitors have lowered Hyosung’s profitability. Hence, Hyosung is considering the development of a low-end Spandex product to heighten its profitability in the market.
Theoretical Framework (Method for Data Collection): I will utilize SWOT analysis incorporating STEEPLE, Ansoff’s Matrix, Lewin’s Force Field Analysis, Profitability and Ratio analysis, and the Product Life Cycle in my evaluation to analyze whether Hyosung should develop low-end Spandex products.
