본 문서는 2018 May IBDP 에 작성된 Hl physics IA 입니다. 약 3개월에 걸쳐 실험한 결과, 그래프와 그에 따른 분석을 어떻게 하셔야 하는지 참고하면 도움될 것 같아 올립니다.
제 주제는 How does change in water level affect the pressure difference required to pump the water out of a bottle? 입니다. 물리 내용중에 압력 부분을 사용한 부분이고, HL 이기에 교과서 내용보다 응용하여 분석했습니다.

1. Introduction
Since I was very young, I have watched television documentaries on life in Africa with my grandmother. The world I have experienced through the documentary was stunning; people built their own hut as a shelter, harvested fruits from trees, and pumped out water from a public well.
The scene of pumping water from wells astonished me. I didn’t realize that, in most developing countries, getting water was such a tough task. Although, water pumps were used to irrigate water from places to places, people still had difficulties getting water when wells almost ran out of the water. When I watched the people struggling to pump up the water from the bottom of the deep well, a question arose. Does it really take more effort to pump out the water from the very bottom of a well than from the top? How much more effort should people make to pump water as the water level decreases to the bottom of a well?
Hence, I decided to delve into the physics of water pumps. I researched on different functions of water pumps used to support people’s access to water. One of the pumps, a manual pump, functions by pumping water out from the bottom of a bottle to the top by inputting pressure to lift the water up. However, as I have questioned while watching the documentary, the amount of input pressure required varies with the water level. The higher the water level in the well, the less pressure is required to pump out the water…
