Factors of Photosynthesis

1) Temperature
– Affects light-independent reaction
– Increase in temperature increases the rate of photosynthesis
– Low enzymatic activity at low temperatures
– Maximum rate optimal temperature, above the opt. Temperature ⇒ affects Rubisco activity
– Enzymes can denature at higher temperatures

2) Light Intensity
– Affects light-dependent reaction
– Low ATP is produced at lower light intensities
– Insufficient NADPH+H
+ at low light intensities
– Prevents Calvin cycle from occurring
– Increase in light intensity level increases the rate of photosynthesis until a plateau is reached
