Investigating Hyperboloids

Introduction

I was always interested about what kind of mathematics were adopted in architectures. The use of mathematics has to consider various factors while constructing. Such as functionality, safety, economical aspects, artistic design of appearance, feasibility and environmental impact. During the construction, it uses math as well as physics, arts, economics and sometimes history, which has intrigued me to analyze in depth. Recollecting from my past memories, when I was young, I wondered about how few buildings were designed and built the shape they have. There was a nuclear power plant (fig 1) nearby my house back time and I questioned myself about what is the reason behind the shape of its structure? Hence, through the research I found out that it has the advantages of energy saving, easy maintenance, good ventilation effect and smooth air flow…
