#### Research Question: How accurately can the viscosity coefficient of water (η) be investigated by observing the effect which varying distance between two capillary tubes have on the height difference of water, provided the constant flow rate of water?

Introduction

Although the Poiseuille’s law is something which I haven’t studied as a part of my syllabus, I have decided to investigate this topic due to its significance in various real-life situations. From the pressure of water used in our house to the blood pressure in cardiovascular system, the Poiseuille’s law is applicable to multiple fields in our life. Personally, I was deeply interested to study further about the mechanism of the arterial blood pressure which drives the flow of blood through all parts of the body due to brief interesting facts about the heart told by my uncle who is a cardiologist. These facts at once captured my attention, and with further research, I was able to understand the , namely the Poiseuille’s law.

The experimental physics project projected itself as an ideal opportunity to explore the topic further and to conduct the experiment for investigating the Poiseuille’s law. As such, my physics IA was focused on the following research question:
